Eyeshadow Swatch Project: Reds

Eyeshadow Swatch Project: Reds

Posted on Friday, at

My favorite red/pink eyeshadow colors, alphabetically by manufacturer and then by color name, are: Aromaleigh v1's Candytuft — I passed on this color when it was first released because I had way too many pinks...but when I saw some others using it in looks, I noticed the...

Zoya’s Intimate collection

Zoya’s Intimate collection

Posted on Thursday, at

These colors came out following a fall and winter of bright, bold colors and sparkly finishes (Sparkle, Flash, Wicked, Wonderful, Flame) not just from Zoya but from most of the nail polish manufacturers. In fact, the last time Zoya released a softer-colored collection was the Twist collection in spring 2007…or...

Zoya’s Blair

Zoya’s Blair

Posted on Wednesday, at

I was first tempted to try this color when I saw a nail artist use Blair atop Sasha, to get a richer, deeper red with some glimmer. That does work well…but I like Blair all on its own, too. (Though to get the best effects out of it -...

I fell in love with this lipstick when it was used on me at a makeover. The makeover was something of a disaster…but I did get introduced to this shade of lipstick (and...

My favorite gold/yellow eyeshadow colors, alphabetically by manufacturer and then by color name, are: Aromaleigh v1's Astonish — I love that this is a rich metallic, with a high shine whether applied dry or foiled. It also switches colors: now it looks silver, now it looks gold!! Aromaleigh...

I’ve only got a few things…the Zoya polishes

I’ve only got a few things…the Zoya polishes

Posted on Sunday, at

I've been wanting to find a better storage solution for my nail polishes. I keep them in the refrigerator, in the manufacturers' boxes that they came in, grouped by collection and marked on the outside of the box (so that I have a vague idea *which* China Glaze box to...

China Glaze’s Kaleidescope collection

This collection, released two years before the OMG collection, was a dozen nail colors with holographic effects. The holographic was more scattered, though - you don’t get the rainbow/oil-slick effect when using these colors. These were divided into warm and cool sets. I don’t like the scattered...

Beauty Blogger Challenge: week three

Welcome to the third week of Shatteredshards' beauty bloggers' writing prompt/challenge. It's a bit like Beauty Blogs' Backstage, in that it gets us to share a bit about ourselves and our blog…but all the questions come from one source, they're available in advance (if you're the preplanning type),...

BareMinerals’ 100% Natural Lipcolor collection

BareMinerals’ 100% Natural Lipcolor collection

The first actual BE kit I got (Star Style) included a tube of Maple Syrup lipstick. That color (which looked dreadful on me) has since been discontinued, unless there are tubes still lurking at various channel partners. But the tube itself hooked me immediately. The velvet-matte finish doesn’t show...

BareMinerals’ Cherries on Top lipstick

BareMinerals’ Cherries on Top lipstick

This is one of the new-for-2010 colors in the BE lipcolor line. I didn't actually notice its addition to the lineup, but it's a nice color. It applies smoothly, like all of the BE 100% natural lipsticks. The color can be sheered down a bit until it's just a tint.
