Liebster Award

Liebster Award

Kristina over at Simplified Glam has nominated (tagged? ) me for the Liebster Award...a week ago. It only took me that long to get my entry written and posted. (In my admittedly pathetic defense, it's been a busy week. Jobsearching, a job fair, frantic phone calls, a weekend at the parents' house, and all the usual stuff of day-to-day life.)

We had to wait almost a full year, but this fifth collection finally got its release date. I almost bought several of these colors without swatching, but I’m glad that I waited - because two of my guesses were totally accurate, while the other two that I would have chosen…well, I wouldn’t have been as impressed. (And I would have missed out on NDA, which is a LOT more attractive than I thought!)

Femme’s Halloween 2012 release, with six eyeshadows and one illuminator (which I think could be used as an eyeshadow anyway…) I ended up selecting Naga Mask and Masquerade for purchase from the main collection before realizing that they were part of a smaller collection. I may go back for Candied Apple at some point, but the other colors - while attractive - are not to my personal taste. They’re excellent shades to have if you prefer lighter, almost primary-pastel...

This is a paler color than I thought it might be. It looks a little like a pineapple smoothie - nearly white but with a definitely yellow tint, and a soft, almost plush pearl finish. Folks with golden skintones might be able to use this as a highlighter both for brow and inner vee. Coverage is pretty solid, nicely opaque (unless you use a fiber-optic/soft-focus blush to apply, in which case you can get a more sheered-out effect.) I...

The green shimmer almost overwhelms the brown in this color. Think of it as an intensely amped-up Riddle, tilted in favor of the duotone top color rather than the base color. (And this one isn’t semisheer.) I definitely see more of the brown when I apply this one dry, but the green is definitely present.

Too sparkly to be used as a regular highlight - and if you want to avoid sparkle altogether, you may prefer a different brown-white from BFTE (Butt Naked is very similar, though it's less bright and has a shimmer/pearl finish.) When applying this dry, I get more of the sparkle (which then proceeds to fall about) and less of the color. I like this one best when it's foiled or applied with some mixing medium.

Lots of people weren't impressed by this Color Tattoo. They were hoping for a solid green that was near-primary, but a bit brighter than Edgy Emerald. This is brighter, but it also a bit softer. The color loses some depth when applied. The shimmer finish is nice, but people who were hoping for a deeper green color or a 100% opaque color were a bit unhappy. This shade looks fairly good on me. The color looks a little faded, a little...
