Pour one out for indie vendors past

Pour one out for indie vendors past

I myself don’t know what happened to Shiro. I was also fortunate enough that my final orders placed with Shiro were delivered within stated TAT and with all items present. I could armchair-quarterback and point out ways that the closure could have been handled differently, using things that Shiro had done in the past (such as the order-fulfillment status tracker that was often deployed during the Black Friday sales.) But…why? This indie store is now closed. Moving on....

ColourPop’s Lux Lipstick in Brick

ColourPop’s Lux Lipstick in Brick

This looked a little more neutral on Colourpop’s site…and I really should know by now, Do Not Trust Their Photos. Still, even if it’s a little warm, it’s not outside of my wearable range. Of other lipsticks I own, this is a little similar to Nude Nuance, but it’s a richer shade and just the tiniest bit warmer.

NYX Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipliner in Whipped Caviar

NYX Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipliner in Whipped Caviar

This is such an interesting shade! Pink, but with a slight buff or greyish undertone. It’s a late-summer MLBB for me. Sadly, this color did not get made into a lipstick when NYX launched that line. I thought - and kind of hoped - that it would actually lean a little more strongly brown.

NYX Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipstick in Ace

NYX Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipstick in Ace

I’ll admit, I bought this color for use as a creme-to-powder eye shade. (And possibly a softer contour.) I’m not personally a fan of blue lips as a regular or even semi-regular look, but I love the color! This applies a bit patchily, and I have to be extra-careful when applying or I do get unever coverage.

Color Club’s It’s About Thyme

Color Club’s It’s About Thyme

This color looks like it could be a leaf-green fairly easily, but it does have some brown tones to it. (To me, it almost looks autumnal.) The formula is a little on the thicker side, but that may have been the particular batch that I got. It didn’t stain my cuticles, though I did accidentally wear it without a base coat and it didn’t come off my nails easily.

This was another color that I first spotted at Walmart. I initially didn’t get it, because I thought “It’s too similar to that black Halo Hues polish that I got, I don’t really need them both”...and then when I went back to Walmart next month, all of these polishes were clearance-priced. So for $1.50 I snagged myself a bottle of this. The coverage is solid and even, but because this has larger glitter-chunks in it, the particles...

Sleek Makeup’s Colour Carnage i-Divine palette

Sleek Makeup’s Colour Carnage i-Divine palette

Some fairly nice shades in this palette, most with fairly good color payoff - though a few didn’t perform the way I hoped that they would. And Sleek seems to have abandoned the practice of giving the shadows names, as well, so it’s back to my “Upper 1, Lower 1” naming scheme. First off: there is no black in this palette. About half of Sleek’s i-Divine palettes had a matte black shadow, even if it didn’t necessarily fit...

Notoriously Morbid’s Collapsed Dream

Notoriously Morbid’s Collapsed Dream

This one is supposed to have an olive-green base, according to Notoriously Morbid’s description. It does look slightly deeper green at extreme angles (you can see that at the bottom of the “foiled” swatch), but that really doesn’t come through very much. Applied, this is quite similar to All Hallow’s Eve. This could just be mixing issues on Notoriously Morbid’s part - I’ve run into quite a few instances of that.

Notoriously Morbid’s All Hallow’s Eve

Brown-purple with bronze interference highlights. This color was first released some time in 2013, but I wasn’t shopping at Notoriously Morbid until 2019 - this color was the last shade from the Coffin collection that was still available, and it was discontinued shortly after I got my jars. By the time I bought it, it had already been reformulated into a semi-loose formula. I don’t know if this is part of the reformulation, or part of Notoriously Morbid’s general...

Zoya’s Briar

Zoya’s Briar

An ever-so-slightly softened rose. Not red, not pink, not magenta. Rose (faded). I really like this shade! The formula is fairly average for Zoya cremes, in that it goes on smooth and self-levels very well.
