CND’s Vinylux in Ultraviolet (315)

CND’s Vinylux in Ultraviolet (315)

Despite the name, this is a very strong, saturated rose-pink. The formula is very smooth and nicely opaque - I couldn’t quite get away with just one coat, but two coats gives solid, even coverage. I have some similiar colors, but don’t know that I have anything exactly like it.

Sally Hansen’s Boss Babe (054)

This…is an unfortunate shade. I don’t know what they were going for, but they ended up with something that looks rather bruised. The formula is the standard for the Mega Strength collection - a little watery, but not patchy.

Makeup Revolution’s x Tammi Tropical Carnival palette

Makeup Revolution’s x Tammi Tropical Carnival palette

Posted on Tuesday, at

This is Tammi Clark’s second collaboration with Makeup Revolution: the first was Tropical Paradise, which is a range of colors but all a bit muted, to be more universally appealing. This one, though…this is the one that I prefer: Tropical Carnival. I picked it up this past summer when I was stressed by my parents’ health, my job, and several smaller things. I was so happy to see a palette of richer, bright-but-not-all-neon shades! (Both because I needed...

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Always Pearly Pink (756)

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Always Pearly Pink (756)

Your standard pale pink with a softened pearl finish and even color payoff. It looks a fairly neutral pink in the pot, and cools down just a tiny bit when applied. Like all of these Infallible 24HR Eye Shadows, it’s easiest to apply without any additional mixing agent, and it becomes a powder as it dries. A sealant can’t hurt, especially if you plan to go dancing or to a good comedy show where you’ll be laughing...

Sigil Inspired’s Hidden Heartbeat

Sigil Inspired’s Hidden Heartbeat

Posted on Monday, at

This was one of my more anticipated purchases from Sigil Inspired, since I hadn’t really seen orange eyeshadows with a strong cooler duotone layer. (I have since found that Notoriously Morbid’s Thunderbird is a close match.) Unlike some of my other Sigil Inspired shades, this one doesn’t look like a direct re-pack of an unblended colorant. However, it does require a little extra work to adhere throughout a full day - so there may be very few...

elf’s Essential Smudge Brush

elf’s Essential Smudge Brush

Posted on Saturday, at

I got this brush once by accident, but quickly found a perfect use for it: not so much smudging, as initially collecting colors from palettes and patting them onto my lids. Fuller, fluffier brushes are good for picking up loose powders, but for pressed shadows I’ve found that they don’t do such a great job carrying shadows from pan to lid. I use this brush to stipple the color onto my lids, over primer; then pick up a...

Color Club’s In The Buff

Color Club’s In The Buff

This is a very light brown, but it’s definitely showing brown tones. The formula is just a tiny bit thick, but that isn’t universal among the other Meet Your Match colors that I tried, so possibly that’s just the batch. (A drop of polish thinner and some vigorous shaking fixed things nicely.) This one is thick enough that it will come in very handy for nail art!

L’Oréal’s Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara

L’Oréal’s Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara

Posted on Thursday, at

This is most definitely a “definition”-mascara. I had only a little tangling, but no clumping. The brush was okay, but I didn’t feel that it gave me any particular control.

Color Club’s Nothing To Wear

Color Club’s Nothing To Wear

One of the palest neutrals from this collection, and one of the first colors I was interested in. This has a faint latte-brown tone to it, and is more neutral than yellow-leaning. The formula applied very well and self-leveled excellently, with no thin spots. At two coats, you can definitely see the ridges of my nails in that manicure, though! (Buffing isn’t something that I do regularly…and it shows.) I don’t know if this would be thick...

Zoya’s Leighton

Zoya’s Leighton

Posted on Wednesday, at

I got a mini bottle of Leighton free with some promo or other. I have enough black-violet creme polishes, and so it was a color that I’d previously intentionally passed over. The formula is nice enough, though a tiny bit on the thick side.
