BareMinerals’ Sceptre

BareMinerals’ Sceptre

Posted on Thursday, at

The base color is medium brown, which amplifies the gold shimmer fairly well. This color looks similar to one of the old Alchemie shades from Aromaleigh - but I forget which one. (I'll have to swatch-compare later.) This was one of the six “kit-exclusive” color in Gorgeous Eyes Unlocked, but...

BareMinerals’ Rhyme

BareMinerals’ Rhyme

This is definitely orange, almost right on the borderline between a softened orange and a warm lighter brown…but in some lights, beside certain colors, it shows faint coral-pink tones. I like this shade, but don't know how best to use it on my eyes without the color looking perhaps...

CND’s Vinylux Married to the Mauve (129)

CND’s Vinylux Married to the Mauve (129)

Posted on Wednesday, at

A bit darker than I thought it would be, with a bit more rose undertones than I’m used to seeing in something called “mauve”. The formula was good, about standard for Vinylux polishes. The thin spots were the manicurist’s fault - this is one of the things that...

Aromaleigh v2’s Galactic Mission One collection

Aromaleigh v2’s Galactic Mission One collection

The photos on the vendor site make these look like the interference layer shows up very distinct from the base layer. In actuality, when I swatched these…they ended up as something of a blend between the two. Sometimes, the result was a little muddy. The shadow quality on these...

BareMinerals’ Over The Moon kit

BareMinerals’ Over The Moon kit

I don’t know that I’d use these two colors to create a look. Either of them can pair nicely with a deeper shade, but together…they need something that can be used as a liner or a contour shade, to anchor the overall look. Color payoff on both...

BareMinerals’ Nightingale

BareMinerals’ Nightingale

A black that leans just a tiny bit blue. You can still use this anywhere you'd use black eyeliner/eyeshadow, but while it will look perfectly fine alongside reds, pinks, or golds…it will look much more right in combination with blues, purples, and greens. It's black, and there's a...

BareMinerals’ Filigree

BareMinerals’ Filigree

A bit of an ashy brown. Definitely neutral, with a pearl finish that does not overpower the base color. (Makeup companies please take note: this is what a pearl finish should be, not something that virtually whites out the underlying shade.) Makes a good all-over shade, but can be used...

BareMinerals’ Intro to Eyes kit

BareMinerals’ Intro to Eyes kit

Posted on Sunday, at

A great way to get an intro to everything eye-makeup-related in BE’s lineup. I’m not sure when this kit was available, but since it includes one of the Big and Bright eyeliners, I’m guessing that it couldn’t have been much earlier than 2010.

BareMinerals’ Perfect Blushes Volume IV kit

BareMinerals’ Perfect Blushes Volume IV kit

Posted on Sunday, at

There were four of these Perfect Blushes kits - and this was the only one released when I was buying BE. This is the coolest of the blush sets, even though R.S.V.P. is a neutral and the very faint gold shimmer can try to pull it warmer,...

Jordana’s Cat Eye Liner in Suede

Jordana’s Cat Eye Liner in Suede

Posted on Saturday, at

I don't know why a deep purple eyeliner is named “Suede,” unless they were referring to the finish. Like many of the liners in this collection, the non-metallic finish almost looks like it's always kind of wet, and very smooth - a bit like shiny leather. (Or suede.) The swatch...
