BareMinerals’ Round the Clock Eyeliner in 6pm

BareMinerals’ Round the Clock Eyeliner in 6pm

Darkened plum but with a bit more coloring and no sparkle. The application wasn't as smooth as many of the other RTC eyeliners, possibly because I've owned this pencil since the first incarnation of the line…so it's a few years old. (Gel liners do tend to dry out just a wee bit, no matter how carefully they're stored.)

It doesn't apply as evenly as I'd like, but it applies much better than many of the UD metallic liners. The definition is good, the color is bolder without being overpowering, and the glitter is thick enough for a good accent, but it isn't an outright glitter bomb.

A semisheer version of buxom Laura - which is nice, for folks who weren't big fans of the full-color version of this shade. It's still got the magenta, but the color is semisheer and deepened and cooled a bit. I can actually use this color fairly easily, and wear it well. (Laura…not quite so much.)

The base color is medium brown, which amplifies the gold shimmer fairly well. This color looks similar to one of the old Alchemie shades from Aromaleigh - but I forget which one. (I'll have to swatch-compare later.) This was one of the six “kit-exclusive” color in Gorgeous Eyes Unlocked, but I'm also fairly sure that BE has had a few similar shades in its own lineup.

This is definitely orange, almost right on the borderline between a softened orange and a warm lighter brown…but in some lights, beside certain colors, it shows faint coral-pink tones. I like this shade, but don't know how best to use it on my eyes without the color looking perhaps a little out of place. There isn't quite enough orange to really work with my eyes, it's just close enough to tan that if I'm not careful I can end...

CND’s Vinylux Married to the Mauve (129)

CND’s Vinylux Married to the Mauve (129)

A bit darker than I thought it would be, with a bit more rose undertones than I’m used to seeing in something called “mauve”. The formula was good, about standard for Vinylux polishes. The thin spots were the manicurist’s fault - this is one of the things that can happen when you apply the second coat before the first one’s really properly cured.

The photos on the vendor site make these look like the interference layer shows up very distinct from the base layer. In actuality, when I swatched these…they ended up as something of a blend between the two. Sometimes, the result was a little muddy. The shadow quality on these is okay, about average for indies. If you absolutely fall in love with one or more of the base shades, and the interference (duotone) effect is secondary, by all means,...

I don’t know that I’d use these two colors to create a look. Either of them can pair nicely with a deeper shade, but together…they need something that can be used as a liner or a contour shade, to anchor the overall look. Color payoff on both is very good. Both of these colors were available for individual purchase for quite a while, both through the BE website and through various channel partners.

A black that leans just a tiny bit blue. You can still use this anywhere you'd use black eyeliner/eyeshadow, but while it will look perfectly fine alongside reds, pinks, or golds…it will look much more right in combination with blues, purples, and greens. It's black, and there's a tiny bit of extra work to remove it, but it's not as much as the eyeliners or blackened colors. Pigmentation is good, and the shadow can be blended out. This...
