Definitely dark green, definitely blackened! For me, I got more of a heavy shimmer / light sparkle finish. Be aware that this is definitely blackened. Foiling leaves you with some sparkle, but almost more black than green. It makes a really gorgeous liner! I’ve had best results when patting this over a slightly damp shadow base - to both help with longer adhesion on my super-oily lids, and to amp up the sparkle a little.

Concrete Minerals’ Rocked

  • Availability: part of the regular eyeshadow line
  • Color Range: soft peach with iridescent violet shimmer
  • Staying Power: 3 out of 4 stars
  • Cost/Amount: USD$7 for 1.5 grams

There’s a very faint blue-lavender duochrome to this, when applied wet. Applied dry, you get a light peach with a decent color payoff a very faint shimmer. The pigmentation level is better than it appears in my dry swatch - it just is so very close to my skintone that it’s hard to tell if anything’s there. It’s a softer shade, and fairly versatile - anyone with warm, neutral, or borderline cool undertones should be able to wear this color very easily. (Unless you have olive undertones, or unless your undertones are very firmly decidedly cool…not cool-neutral, but very obviously blue or green.)

This shadow was added to the lineup the same time as Hustle - shortly after the web site moved from an Etsy store to its own domain. (I think those were the only two colors added in that wave, but my memory could be faulty.)

Silk Naturals’ Pop
  • Manufacturer: Silk Naturals
  • Availability: part of the regular line; released in Fall 2010
  • Color Range: medium gilded lilac shimmer
  • Staying Power: 3 out of 4 stars
  • Cost/Amount: USD$4 for 0.75 teaspoon
  • Would you purchase again: yes

This is one of the near-duochrome colors in Silk Naturals’ lineup. I have a few others: Sizzle, Jean Queen, Fairy Dust. (And then there are the ones that I unfortunately missed: Quiver and Splash.) Pop is a nice softer purple on its own, with a slight shimmer. Apply it wet, and in different angles you see gold and fuchsia flashes. It’s not as profound a color shift as some other shadows - or the Planetary Traveller micas from TKB - but it’s a nice accent and a little “plus” on a clear lilac eyeshadow.

Bare Escentuals’ Champagne is a definite gold/lilac duochrome. But a) it’s discontinued and b) no red-pink flashes, just the faded gold and the dusty lilac.

Shiro Cosmetics’ Unforgettable

  • Availability: part of the Tributes collection
  • Color Range: medium cool orange-red shimmer
  • Staying Power: 4 out of 4 stars
  • Cost/Amount: USD$5 for 1.8 - 2.0 grams

This color swatched just a little warmer than it appeared on Shiro’s site. Shade-wise, it’s right between Aromaleigh v2’s Antares (medium maroon shimmer) and Aldebaran (coral-red shimmer.) It’s a cool red with very faint burnt-orange undertones. It’s also less metallic than I thought it would be, based on Shiro’s description and swatches. I love the color, though - excellent pigmentation level, no staining. I love seeing how more and more vendors are producing rich, truly pigmented red eyeshadows! (Not soft faded red, not red-russet, not brick-brown, not even hot pink, but actual reds. Some of the mainstream vendors are even starting to realize that, yes, there’s demand!)

According to the site copy, this color is lip-safe.
