Aromaleigh v2.1’s Iris blush

Aromaleigh v2.1’s Iris blush

Posted on Thursday, at

I’m always interested in purple blushes. This one is very soft as well as sheer, so it’s like a pale light pink or coral blush on most people: it’s a hint of a glow rather than an overt blush. It can be layered, but it seems to lose some luminosity when I do that.

Maybelline’s Color Sensational Lipstick in Raging Raisin (775)

Maybelline’s Color Sensational Lipstick in Raging Raisin (775)

This is a cool red that has warm tones. It’s a raisin-red, but it’s also kind of purple-brick. The color is semi-sheer, so if you don’t want your natural lip color to show at all, either use a colored lip primer or make your single coat a bit heavier.

Color Club’s Peace Out Purple

Color Club’s Peace Out Purple

Posted on Wednesday, at

Despite the name…this is a bright cool pink. It’s a very vivid color with a little depth than most neons, but with nearly the same intensity. The formula is the standard for Color Club creme polishes.

Zoya’s Ness

Zoya’s Ness

The color green from your primary-school box of crayons. I have a few green nail polishes in this shade, but for quite a while I was only really looking for evergreen, moss, or sage nail colors so I probably bypassed more than a few opportunities to get this particular shade. The formula is standard Zoya creme, from smooth application and excellent spreadability to durability.

Real Techniques’ Flawless Base Brush kit

Real Techniques’ Flawless Base Brush kit

Posted on Tuesday, at

I picked this up several years ago. Real Techniques brushes are a little softer than I would strictly prefer, but I’ve found a use for most of the brushes in this kit. I use the buffing brush for powder application, and the square foundation brush for highlighter/bronzer on my eyelids. I have occasionally used the contour brush for highlighter application. I haven’t really found a use for the detailer brush - it’s smaller, and would be...

Notoriously Morbid’s The Endless collection

Notoriously Morbid’s The Endless collection

By the time I started buying from Notoriously Morbid, one of the eight colors had disappeared from the lineup. They all have the standard effects that are found in multichrome cosmetics: a red-orange-yellow shift, a purple-blue shift, a green-blue shift, a pink-yellow-green shift, a red-green-blue shift, a purple-blue-magenta shift, a violet-magenta-gold-silver shift. All shadows are available either pressed or loose, and have a metallic finish. Notoriously Morbid makes the colors available in either pressed or loose formula (and, of course,...

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Blinged and Brilliant (607)

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Blinged and Brilliant (607)

This was one of the products released for the 2012 Holiday season. It’s a pale rose gold with a very metallic finish - almost frosty. It’s easy to over-apply this and end up with cakey-looking shadow. Happily, it blends fairly nicely, so when I accidentally apply too much, I just start blending it out. Even so many years later, this eyeshadow is still performing well. (This is one of my personal arguments for brush-washing and having backups of your...

Notoriously Morbid’s Delirium

Notoriously Morbid’s Delirium

Four colors are visible in this multichrome. The blue and purple are the most visible in this shade when viewed straight on. The magenta and gold appear at the edges, as the surface curves away from the light source / eye.

Milani Cosmetics’ Ludicrous Lights Duo Chrome Highlighter in Pink-aroo

Milani Cosmetics’ Ludicrous Lights Duo Chrome Highlighter in Pink-aroo

Posted on Sunday, at

This is my least favorite of the three Ludicrous Lights Duo Chrome Highlighters. Peach-ella blends in with my skintone more so when it does sparkle it looks a bit like it came out of nowhere; and Lollapa-blue-za is…well, it’s blue. (I have a decided weakness for blue and purple highlighters.) Like the other two highlighters in this collection, this is a chunky sparkle rather than a smooth sheer shimmer. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a highlighter...

Nyx Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipstick in Copenhagen

Nyx Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipstick in Copenhagen

Posted on Sunday, at

Exactly the same color as the Copenhagen lip liner, but in an (in my opinion) easier-to-use format. Copenhagen initially was only available as a lipliner. This color, along with Cherry Skies, were shades that I really wanted to see in bullet form. When the second wave of Suede Matte Lipsticks was added to the collection, there they both were! Copenhagen is a deeper red, and it’s cooler than Cherry Skies. The lipstick is also a bit brighter than the...
