Color Club’s Rocky Mountain High

Color Club’s Rocky Mountain High

If you’re looking for a deep red, this one may work for you…if you use three coats. The formula is rather thin, so it spreads well and has a smooth finish. Unfortunately, it doesn’t apply evenly. You can see how, with two coats, the edges are thinner and thus brighter. (CND’s Cherry Apple has the exact same issue. Three coats and you’ve got a lovely oxblood with hints of blood-of-my-enemies; two coats and you’ve...

Maybelline’s Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner collection

Maybelline’s Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner collection

I like that Maybelline has this alternate line of lip liners - twist-up instead of pencil. I also like that they included a clear one, for people who want to apply anti-feathering countermeasures. I do wish that they’d had more matches, and better matches, for their Loaded Bolds lip shades because for some of those, I really felt like I wanted a good thick lip liner to help with the unevenness along the edges. (The purples, in particular, which...

Makeup Revolution’s Forever Flawless Constellation palette

Makeup Revolution’s Forever Flawless Constellation palette

When I first got this palette, I was interested in the number of bolder and richer shades. Then I found other pretties to focus on, and this one was neglected for a while. It’s a good palette, both in terms of quality and shades. There is one very soft “creme to powder” shade, and one other firmer “creme to powder” pan. All the others are an even mix of matte and shimmer finishes. It has a few similarities to...

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Purple Priority (758)

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Purple Priority (758)

Deep grape-purple - like Concord grapes. This is a dark color with good saturation, easy application, and decent blendability. It isn’t my favorite, only because I prefer more obviously blue-purples, or warmer purples (raisin, cabernet, what have you.) The formula is pretty much the same as the other saturated 24HR Eye Shadows: creme to powder, not so easy to do fine-detail application, won’t blend with water (or, likely, most other mixing mediums) and can blend with extremely light...

Everyday Minerals’ Freedom

This is a decent neutral - good color payoff, softened light refraction, and close to neutral but just barely warm. It reminds me of a warmer, less-reflective version of BE’s Ta-dah, which is a color that I absolutely love! Freedom, like a lot of EDM’s eyeshadows, is a bit drier. I need to use a primer and sometimes a sealant to both keep it in place, and get the best color vibrancy.

Maybelline’s Color Sensational Lipstick in Fiery Fuchsia (810)

Maybelline’s Color Sensational Lipstick in Fiery Fuchsia (810)

Without a liner this has more of a tendency to bleed…but it’s a lovely color on me. It doesn’t stain my lips like a few other Loaded Bolds shades; but it does seem to fade a little more slowly than other Color Sensational shades. I have a few other lipsticks in this color, but not with this one’s staying power or exact shade saturation.

A lovely spring-green with a strong pink interference flash. Two coats gives me decent color, but I still can see the difference between my nail bed and the longer nail. There are many other EDM polishes that give full coverage - or more opacity - after two coats, so I can only guess that this is intentional. The polish in the bottle looks like it could lean blue-green, but when applied to the nail it’s more of what I...

NYX Cosmetics’ Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Blossom

NYX Cosmetics’ Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Blossom

This color is a lighter shade, so it’s not as much a “definition” color as an “accent” shade. It is a bit on the liquidy side - I find that I have to wipe the brush on the lip of its container a lot more. On the other hand, that means that it isn’t quite as easy to over-apply! This looks almost like 1960s makeup minus the cat-eye lipstick: it’s a paler but not soft color, so...

Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liner in Untz

Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liner in Untz

Bright orange that can…change slightly. Depending on what it’s applied over, and how heavily it’s applied, it can be a warmer yellow-orange or a cooler orange. Either way, it’s totally opaque. (I don’t understand it, I just think it’s interesting.) Like most of the other neon eyeliner shades, this one has been discontinued. Based on past trends’ cycling, I think it will be at least five years before we see a lot of gel...

Milani’s Rose Powder blush in Tea Rose

Milani’s Rose Powder blush in Tea Rose

I was very excited to try this blush - softer rose with buff tones, no shimmer or pearl finish, just a gentle color that would look good on fairer skin. It is subtle, and it does add color…very little color. I had to build the blush up a bit to get the amount of color in the photos, and that’s one of the few blushes I’ve tried where I’ve had to do that.
