NYX Cosmetics’ Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Blossom

NYX Cosmetics’ Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Blossom

This color is a lighter shade, so it’s not as much a “definition” color as an “accent” shade. It is a bit on the liquidy side - I find that I have to wipe the brush on the lip of its container a lot more. On the other hand, that means that it isn’t quite as easy to over-apply! This looks almost like 1960s makeup minus the cat-eye lipstick: it’s a paler but not soft color, so...

Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liner in Untz

Colourpop’s Crème Gel Liner in Untz

Bright orange that can…change slightly. Depending on what it’s applied over, and how heavily it’s applied, it can be a warmer yellow-orange or a cooler orange. Either way, it’s totally opaque. (I don’t understand it, I just think it’s interesting.) Like most of the other neon eyeliner shades, this one has been discontinued. Based on past trends’ cycling, I think it will be at least five years before we see a lot of gel...

Milani’s Rose Powder blush in Tea Rose

Milani’s Rose Powder blush in Tea Rose

I was very excited to try this blush - softer rose with buff tones, no shimmer or pearl finish, just a gentle color that would look good on fairer skin. It is subtle, and it does add color…very little color. I had to build the blush up a bit to get the amount of color in the photos, and that’s one of the few blushes I’ve tried where I’ve had to do that.

Colourpop’s Lux Lipstick in 27

Colourpop’s Lux Lipstick in 27

I admit, I took a chance when I chose to buy this color. I couldn’t tell if it leaned more brown, or if it was a deep brick red. Turns out…it’s more of a brown-based red than I had hoped. It applies very well - one of the better Lux Lipsticks I’ve tried. It just isn’t a fantastic shade for me.

Color Club’s Road Trip!

Color Club’s Road Trip!

This is such a gorgeous color! I love the shade - deep enough for a fall or winter shade, but not so dark that it couldn’t work in spring or late summer. My only complaint was that the formula didn’t have the very best spreadability. It showed faint hints of brushstrokes. I may try adding a partial drop of nail polish thinner and see if that helps at all.

This color would have been nice if it hadn’t been super-sheer. Even with four coats, I’ve still got VNL! The roughened texture, with some larger particles, isn’t my favorite. I do like the color and the red/pink flash, but…four coats? Unless it’s the original Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (which does fine for me with just two coats), I don’t have time for 4-coat manicures.

L’Oréal’s Infallible Pro Last Waterproof Eyeliner collection

L’Oréal’s Infallible Pro Last Waterproof Eyeliner collection

I loved L’Oréal’s Silkisseme liners, so when I noticed this collection it was pretty easy to pick up a few colors to test. They even had a burgundy!! Thus far, I like the color range - a few quasi-highlight liners, but mostly a nice range of medium-deep and dark liner shades. I’m less enamored of the texture of a few of them. I don’t know if I got off-batch pencils, or if this is just...

I feel like these four blushes have been around for quite some time. I remember seeing other bloggers review some of the “special limited edition shades” in the early 2010s, so there’s been the “core four” for most of the 2010s. The blushes are softer shades, a bit on the sheer side, and not easily buildable if you want the color to stay in place for a long while.

My Pretty Zombie’s Drugs Like Me: Meth

My Pretty Zombie’s Drugs Like Me: Meth

This is marketed as a blush, but it can be applied more thickly and used as an eyeshadow. I could use this as a blush - it’s a brick red rather than a lush red, so it might not look as good on my cheeks as a clearer red with softer brown tones.
