Maybelline’s Shimmering Sea Color Tattoo cream shadow

Maybelline’s Shimmering Sea Color Tattoo cream shadow

Posted on Saturday, at

This is a repromote/rename of last summer's duotone Seashore Frosts, one of the better performing semisheer duotone shadows from the Summer 2013 LE Color Tattoo collection. I do wish that they had either kept the same name, or gone ahead and tweaked the color a bit (made the blue more...

Stila’s Waterproof Smudge Stick in Tetra

Stila’s Waterproof Smudge Stick in Tetra

Posted on Saturday, at

This one was part of the original Smudge Stick lineup. (Everything in the original lineup had fishy/oceanic names like Tetra, Stingray, Moray, or Lionfish.) The color itself shows up well if not as deep as one might expect looking at the smudge stick, and applies fairly evenly and smoothly....

Urban Decay’s 24-7 Eye Pencil in Crave

Urban Decay’s 24-7 Eye Pencil in Crave

More of a dark charcoal rather than a straight-up black. Or possibly it's a softened black. Either way, the application was not what UD pencils often are (but what the matte-finish pencils so often are, unfortunately.) The color was patchy, and a second coat had a tendency to ball up...

Sally Hansen’s Pink Platinum colorfoil

Sally Hansen’s Pink Platinum colorfoil

Nice soft-but-not-pastel metallic pink. This formula applied very evenly, and didn't show brushstrokes as strongly as Liquid Gold (though it does show them a little.) The color was also even, not streaky - definite win here. This is similar to China Glaze's Admire, but this is just a bit cooler...

Sally Hansen’s Liquid Gold colorfoil

Sally Hansen’s Liquid Gold colorfoil

The formula on this one is a bit streaky, and doesn't spread too well. It acts more like a frost, than a metallic! The streakiness is a disappointment as well. I was hoping to have another good metallic gold for nail stamping. Sadly, it doesn't look like this one is...

Meow Cosmetics’ Sassy blush

Meow Cosmetics’ Sassy blush

Posted on Friday, at

In retrospect, this was not one of my better choices of blush to buy. The quality of the blush itself is good. It adheres well, doesn't fall off, and is more of a satin finish than a shimmer - excellent for folks who want a subtler blush, or no shimmer...

Jordana’s Twist n Shine Balmstain in Tropical Frenzy (03)

Jordana’s Twist n Shine Balmstain in Tropical Frenzy (03)

Not a hot pink, not neon, but…definitely the brightest shade in this collection. I like the fact that it isn't quite as intense a color as I thought it might be, though. It makes it much more wearable. I do still have to touch this up more frequently than,...

More ‘charcoal' than ‘silver' in this color - good for contouring and lining on just about anyone.

Beauty from the Earth’s Belle of the Ball

Beauty from the Earth’s Belle of the Ball

Similar to Playful, which was brought back when BFTE reopened; but Belle of the Ball is a little deeper, a little cooler, closer to the “purple” side of periwinkle. Belle is also a matte finish, and has good color payoff that doesn't fade over the course of a day (as...

Beauty from the Earth’s Playful

Beauty from the Earth’s Playful

I love this color! It's quite a little deeper, but no less vivid, than Stila's Periwinkle smudge stick. The foiled application isn't my favorite, but that often seems to happen with matte-finish shadows…and from nearly every vendor I've tried, so it isn't limited to one company's matte shadow formula....
