Kiko Cosmetics’ Smart Colour Mascara in Metallic Burgundy

Kiko Cosmetics’ Smart Colour Mascara in Metallic Burgundy

Posted on Friday, at

Like most of the Smart Colour mascaras, this is a less noticeable tint on the lashes, instead of a strong, bold, easily-seem color. It applies easily, but does not build too well. The mascara is not waterproof, either. If you need it to be waterproof, you’ll need to wear a waterproof lash top coat like Nyx’s Lock It.

My “dream palettes” - how palettes would look if I were in charge

My “dream palettes” - how palettes would look if I were in charge

Sell an empty container that could be used to carry any four of the 6-color palettes (which would come nicely out of their main carrier palette) to let people customize their easy-to-hand color selection. Back in the 1980s, Revlon sold eyeshadow singles, and they sold empty 2- and 3-color “palette” containers for them. They were infinitely customizable, and I loved them! They let people build their own palettes, rather than being limited to whatever palettes were currently available. The idea...

Sigil Inspired’s Dragonfly Pond Spirit

Sigil Inspired’s Dragonfly Pond Spirit

Similar to other eyeshadows, in that it’s a purple base with a blue interference effect. Different, because this is both warmer and lighter in the base. It’s a purple that leans almost pink.

Color Club’s Without a Doubt

Color Club’s Without a Doubt

This almost looks black at certain angles, deep teal in other lights. The formula applied great - no streaking, no bubbles, no thin spots. This polish might even be thick enough that I could occasionally use it as a stamping polish. (Which would be wonderful, because I LOVE this shade when it looks like an ultradeep teal!)

NYX Cosmetics’ Holographic Halo Eye Tint collection

NYX Cosmetics’ Holographic Halo Eye Tint collection

Posted on Tuesday, at

I haven’t generally been a big fan of eye shadows or primers that need a doefoot applicator…but combine low price with the word “holographic” and I’ll check it out. These don’t act holographic, in that there isn’t a rainbow-effect shimmer. There’s more of one single interference color on top of the base color, and it isn’t even always a different color. Setting that aside, they’re good for highlighting, or as bright/reflective...

Real Techniques’ Powder Brush

Real Techniques’ Powder Brush

Posted on Saturday, at

This brush head is softer, less dense, very thick, and slightly shaped. The handle is standard Real Techniques: metallic, medium length, and flared at the bottom so that the brush can stand on its end. I haven’t seen as many copies of this brush type as I have the Blush Brush…but possibly the markets are concentrating on counterfeits rather than dupes. (The Real Techniques Blush Brush does have a clear dupe available on Ebay, under the name “Pro...

L’Oréal’s Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Waterproof Mascara

L’Oréal’s Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Waterproof Mascara

Posted on Friday, at

This is my favorite of the Voluminous mascaras, with Butterfly Sculpt running a close second. I don’t feel like the wand is going to take my eye out I like the definition that I get with this mascara - the brush helps the mascara cover and then separate each lash well and evenly, while adding a little length. While I do have to do more than one single stroke to get all of my lashes, it’s because I...
