NYX Cosmetics’ Slide On Eye Pencil in Tropical Green

NYX Cosmetics’ Slide On Eye Pencil in Tropical Green

Some metallic eye pencils just don’t apply well. They skip, they skid, they flake away. (Urban Decay, I’m looking at you.) This beetle-green applies smoothly, stays in place, and has amazing color payoff. It ends up washing out my eye color, making it seem more slate than blue; but in my opinion, that’s not an issue since the color itself does so well. This is the deep metallic green liner that I’ve been hoping to find...

NYX Cosmetics’ Bright Idea Illuminating Stick in Pearl Pink Lace

NYX Cosmetics’ Bright Idea Illuminating Stick in Pearl Pink Lace

This is a very light creme with no shimmer at all. This is more of a shade-lightening stick than a "shimmer" stick that many people think of as a highlighter. I use it as a softer cheek color, but also as a neutral base on my lids. This is an item that I don't use very much, since this color is so close to my own skintone that it doesn't make an effective highlighter. It is a nice neutral base...

This is a little more orange-ish than anticipated. I thought, based on the description and the swatch photos, that it would be a little deeper, but a bit mauvey. I did check other peoples’ swatch photos, but they all looked a little less salmon and a little more deep-cameo-rose.

In addition, the brand website cautions that the red may stain skin. (The reds are also...

It looks orange in the pot, and applies with the same color depth, but it leans a bit red. Good application with mild staining if you apply it damp over bare skin.

I was really looking forward to this color! Promo photos made it look like a good duotone polish - a gilded white with a green interference layer. Instead, it’s a silvered gilt base with a frost finish that shows brushstrokes a little too well.

This is an odd color…but it’s great for people who want a well-set-off interference effect layer without having to use a solidly opaque dark cream base. The downside is that if you want to keep the blue shimmer in place, you’ll want to avoid blending or smudging or…using other colors on top of it.
