Lady Burd’s Oceanic

This is most definitely a brighter shade. I don't know that I would personally use this as a liner too often - or at least, not by itself. If I ever figured out how to make those nice super-thin straight lines one on top of the other, I might try a stacked liner with a deeper, almost-black blue and this blue. I can see using this as a colored shadow base.

Now this is a sparkle liner I can get behind! It's a brighter violet, but not so bright that it's overpowering. The sparkle particles are very small, and the pencil applies pretty well (and once in place and set, it won't budge all day.) This shade was one of the new additions to the 24-7 pencil lineup in March 2013. It works great on blue or brown eyes, perhaps a little less so with hazel or green eyes. Despite UD's description...

BareMinerals’ Joyous Jennifer blush

BareMinerals’ Joyous Jennifer blush

When I first saw vendor photos of this blush, it looked too brown to look good on me. Once I saw it, I thought it might work as a blush, but would work as an eye color. Once I swatched it, I found that I could actually wear it as either - the pearl finish softens the brown of the blush shade, and what's most easily visible is a brick-ish color.

This ended up being more orange-ish than I thought it would be. Beauty and Darling were the two mattes from the “second-wave” release that I thought I would be most fond of, as the other colors are too dark for me to wear…almost at all. Unfortunately, I can only really wear this one as a base shade for a tinted gloss or balm, and then it gives that shade a bit of depth. But I can't really wear this...

The glazed carrots are something I learned about just this past year. I have not been a huge fan of carrots, probably because they weren't prepared well or interestingly. These…I love these! I can actually taste the carrot, but don't have the feeling of chomping on a raw vegetable. (I don't even like eating the carrots that are cooked all day with roast beef, and those have been soaking up roast-beef juices for 4-6 hours. The potatoes are easy...

This is a softer color - almost faded. The pearl finish makes this a fairly obvious choice for days when I want a bit of color, but it can't be a bold or bright shade. (Usually interviews and/or client meetings. I never know whether to feel cheated or happy when a client shows up with fuchsia hair and a full sleeve of ink: happy to find a fellow color-enthusiast, or cheated: you mean I could have worm the colorful...

It's a pretty enough blue, softer and a bit heathered. But…it goes on so soft! This is almost semisheer, especially when comparing the applcation to what I see in the pot. I get the same results whether I pat this on dry, or sweep it on wet.

‘Tis the night before Christmas, and all through the house<br />Not a kitty is stirring, because this afternoon I spent hours dragging their favorite shoe-string and they’re exhausted.

A slightly heathered deeper green with some red and gold shimmer/sparkle. The base color is less intense and deeper than Twinkling Lights (the green-base/red-shimmer color that first got me to try Aromaleigh) and to my mind, that makes this color a bit more wearable. I can see using this as a softer liner shade as well as a crease or accent color.

Very similar to Liquid Gold, from Sally Hansen’s Colorfoils collection: a slightly aged gold metallic with (dammit!!) a little bit of streakiness. (I don’t know if that’s due to the formula, or if a better job of shaking/mixing the polish before applying will take care of that issue.) It applies very well otherwise, and I could get away with applying a single coat, if I were in a hurry or if I wanted the gold color...
